In its daily updates on the status of the Marburg outbreak in Rwanda, the latest report, from the evening of Thursday, October 10, 2024, states that, “Since the announcement of the outbreak, all new confirmed cases have been within the hospital cluster in Kigali and their contacts, and all are under isolation and treatment. There is no evidence of community transmission.”
The update shows that, as of that date, a total of 2,949 people had been tested for the Marburg virus. Among them, 58 tested positive.
Of those infected with the Marburg virus, 15 have recovered, 13 have died, and 30 are still undergoing treatment.
So far, efforts to combat this virus are ongoing, including testing, vaccination, and treating those infected
The Marburg virus was first detected in Rwanda on September 27, 2024, and the Ministry of Health is still investigating to determine the source of the virus.
